Junker Detonation!

Don’t you always feel as though when you take two steps forward you always get shoved back a step, or someone/something stops you from walking? That’s what has happened to me recently. I re-auditioned to get into the music department here at Towson and got in! I was so ecstatic about that I completely forgot about my truck that was sitting in an auto shop parking lot where the mechanic and their technicians refused to work on it because of its ‘hazardous conditions.’ Well, you might be wondering where the second step comes into play. I also finally got a job here. It’s about 10 to 12 minutes away from school at a Doggy Daycare. It’s something small but it’s something that will get me a couple extra dollars in my bank account to go to buying a new vehicle or something. Oh but wait… how am I to get to work without a vehicle? Grrrr! My dad and I have been working on trying to find a cheap truck or something to hold me by until I get some money for a legitimate vehicle. It’s been kind of hard with him being in Indiana and me being here in Maryland and trying to figure this stuff out but for the time that it’s been since the truck detonated, I think we’re doing really well so far. I’m also trying to find a salvage yard here close to school or around Baltimore to sell my junker. Oh well, such is life. Lessons get learned. You move on. It seems to constantly be two steps forward and one step back. Well, hopefully I can pick that one step back up and keep walking for miles. Thanks for listening. Happy hump day!

The Audition!

Well, It’s the night before the main audition. If you’ve been reading the blog, you’ll know that I didn’t make it in to the music department here at Towson so I’m re-auditioning. That date is finally here. I’ve been taking private lessons, practicing my lil rump off and trying to get my dang scales down. Yeah, of course I’m nervous out of my mind. People keep asking me “What if you don’t get in … again?” and to be honest, I don’t know what I’ll do. Tomorrow is really a BIG day for me. Getting into the music department here at Towson is such an achievement for me and something that I have been working hard for. Well, here’s to hoping for a fabulous audition *cheers*.

Good news… I was stopped by Mr. M (Towson University Marching Band director) and was informed that I can audition for Drum Major for this upcoming marching season. I am PUMPED! So, I’m going to do it. I’m almost done with my application and Monday it will get handed in.

Believe it or not, that’s about it. I just wanted to fill you in on some stuff that has been happening lately. I hope you had a wonderful week and an even better weekend!

Bear being adorable

So, my mom sent me a video this morning of Bear (our puppy back home) and she is the most adorable little puppy ever! Bear turned 4 months old on the 2nd of March. When I was back home in Indiana for Winter Break, I remember, mom would let her up into the house and she would come running to my bedroom and jump up on the bed and tackle me. She’s a puppy with a lot of spunk. She’s also extremely fun to play with. Here is the video that mom sent me of Bear the other morning. It has moms voice calling for Bear towards the end but listen to her bark. It’s so cute.

Mom also has been sending me pictures of precious (my kitty). I miss her so much. Every time I come home, precious is right there waiting for me when I pull up. When I get out of the truck, she comes running after me and wants up on my shoulders. I know some of you have seen pictures of her doing this but here is one recently before I left for Maryland.

Well, I hope everyone has been enjoying their spring break or enjoyed their break last week. Hope all is well.

Clarinet Review

As most of you already know, I purchased a Leblanc Cadenza Clarinet last week. Well, it came in this past Wednesday. I was so excited to get it and play it. All day Wednesday I was twiddling my fingers waiting for the status of the shipment on UPS’s website to change to ‘delivered.’ After my math class at 1:00, TJ and I went back to my room to just hang out and study for exams. I checked online when we got back to the room to see if it had been delivered and it had been. We put our shoes on, left our computers open and going and went to his place to pick it up. It came in a cute small brown box from Leblanc. After getting back to campus, we went back to my room where I opened it. Inside, there was a book bag with ‘Leblanc’ written all over it. Inside the book bag there was the beauty. That day, Anferny was born.I have an audition coming up on the Saturday after Spring break (March 27th). I'm more nervous now than I was at my first audition. The audition is for Towson's department of music. For all of my Kappa Kappa Psi friends back at Indiana State, here are a couple pictures of our first degree here at Towson.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week and I hope every has either had a wonderful spring break or is going to have a wonderful break. =)

Your Dream Job

I’m sure you’ve had some point in your life where you have taught something to someone. Even if it was for an assignment coming home from middle school or elementary school or even giving an informational/persuasive speech to mom, dad, brother, sister or just someone who will listen. Yeah, it can be a touch nerve racking but when isn’t it? Right? For some people it can even be a high for; something that gets them through the day. That’s where I have been with helping out at marching band camps over the summer every year and with doing Drum Corps. Everything is so inspiring and educational. Every summer I go back home to Crawfordsville, Indiana and help out Crawfordsville High School’s marching band during their camp. This is a time in my life that I will never forget; being able to help create a positive learning field for the students to play on while for me - having the ability to educate and help students understand the beauty behind music. It’s a passion that will never die. You learn every day from everyone in the field. I just want to get it out there that Music Education is definitely the right place I need to be in the near future. I may not be the best performer when it comes to presenting myself on my primary instrument but when it comes to educating and conveying music, holy cow I’m there all the way. Music is something everyone enjoys. Everyone! I hope you have found that something that makes you love your life every day. =) Because I have.

No matter what the music may be:
It’s something we all have in common.
