Today has been rough on the mouth (oh stop)...
I have been playing since about noon and finally stopped about an hour ago! (4:00) I really wish accompanists wouldn't be so stupid. I know its their job but dang. I was doing my normal 30 minute run through and everythign and working with my accompanist for my thursday recital and for my jury. I walk in and way before the door is shut, I hear the piano part already being pounded away. My peice "Phantasiestucke" by Robert Shumann normally starts out with the piano pounding out triplets and the clarinet on eigth notes. Well, i'm not kidding when i heard my accompanist pounding them. Just as a side note, said person doesn't even know their part to the piece. Really, how am I supposed to be able to play to the best of my ability when I have to worry about slowing down for them? We're going about 112BPM and it needs to be about 130 or so. Ugggg... Oh well. I'll get this over with and be happy happy! Oh and for you ISU music majors who are reading this, come thursday to the recital to listen to me get my recital cherry popped! YAY! But othern that. Thats just something that is kindof bothering me and putting a sponge up my clarinet.
What do you think? New accompanist? No time? Do tell?
